Cassie Young
Camp Owner, MSW
Cassie Young, known 'round camp as "Goldie Fox," is an LA native, in love with all things CAMP since the ripe 'ol age of 4.
She's worked with youth for over 20 years, from Counselor-in-Training to Social Worker, and loved no role so much as Camp Owner.
Cassie became her best self at camp:
"Growing up, my front yard was this huge, 70-acre park in Sherman Oaks. I went to the day camp there every summer since I was 4 years old. I grew up at camp. When I was 7, I met my best friend of now 30 years at that camp. I could be totally myself there in a way that I wasn't at school or at home. Singing silly songs to a room of 150 kids or helping a camper move through big feelings-- Camp is still where I feel the most myself & the most joy"
Cassie studied Sociology and Education at UC Santa Barbara and in 2010, received an MSW from UCLA, specializing in work with Children & Families. She is an American Camp Association (ACA) Certified Camp Director.
Creating a camp that blends the fun and freedom of the recreation-style camps she grew up going to, with the progressive and intentional approach she developed an overwhelming passion for, has been the most joy-filled time in her entire life.
The only thing better than planning for camp is actually seeing the campers and staff LIVE the Wildfolk Way, fully taking it into their hearts and minds! It's a WILD journey!
Outside of work, Cassie is a kitchen dance party enthusiast, a woo-woo seeker, indie comedy fan, board game nerd, lover of live music at all the amazing outdoor venues LA has to offer, foodie, & recently healed from breast cancer. Huzzah! She welcomes you to chat her up about non-camp stuff too, anytime.
